Bengkarek Village, located in the Peat Hydrological Area of Kapuas River – Ambawang River, consists of seven hamlets, with four hamlets located on peat land. Mixed plantations (rubber–coffee, rubber–pepper, rubber-coffee-pepper) dominate the land cover, while oil palm from three surrounding companies is the second largest cover. Low rubber and coffee prices have triggered a shift to oil palm and seasonal crops. To increase productivity and selling prices at the farmer level, the community has established an agroforestry learning garden, and provided training on rubber-coffee agroforestry cultivation and post-harvest handling. |
